The Rise of Flipkart Minutes

Since its debut in August 2024, Walmart’s Flipkart has made remarkable strides in India‘s quickly evolving on-demand delivery market. The platform now delivers between 1.1 and 1.2 million orders daily, significantly narrowing the gap with its primary competitors.

Competitive Landscape

Flipkart faces intense pressure from several established quick-commerce pioneers. Instamart, launched by Swiggy in 2020, maintains strong market position with approximately 1.4 million daily orders. Blinkit, originating from the Grofers umbrella, leads with around 3.4 to 3.6 million orders per day. Meanwhile, Zepto continues to expand rapidly, serving between 2.4 and 2.6 million orders daily.

Infrastructure and Scaling

To sustain this momentum, Flipkart has executed a robust infrastructure rollout. The company currently operates roughly 1,050 micro-fulfillment centers, representing significant growth from just 600 in early 2024 and approximately 340 a year earlier. With an addition rate of around 100 facilities monthly, Flipkart targets 1,500 locations by the end of 2026. This dense network enables extremely fast delivery averages of nearly 11 minutes per order.

Customer Behavior and Growth

Retention metrics show clear improvement. Approximately 65% to 70% of monthly users are repeat customers, and transaction frequency has increased by 50% to 60% compared to the previous year. Average order values hover between ₹400 and ₹500, supporting the platform’s focus on premium food and specialty categories.
